The Apostolic Visitation (2017-2018)

The Apostolic Visitation to the Heralds of the Gospel was conducted between 2017 and 2018, ordered by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life, then headed by Cardinal Joao Braz de Aviz. Three visitors -- Dom Jaime Spengler, OFM (Archbishop of Porto Alegre), Dom Sérgio de Deus Borges, and Sr. Maria Antonieta Bruscato, FSP -- were appointed as visitors and conducted 1,824 individual interviews with members of the institution. The visit preceded the establishment of the Commissariat in 2019.
